Realistic Energy Plan sponsored by KEC, establishes the Kansas Energy Policy Task Force. The task force concept draws support from all sectors of the electric industry. The proposed study group includes investor-owned, municipal and cooperative utility representatives, members of various customer classes, renewable energy interests and government stakeholders.

The task force would conduct a comprehensive analysis of the electric industry in Kansas under approximately 20 energy-related topic areas. The panel could also add other topics to their study. The task force would have ample time to evaluate study topics with a report and recommendations due at the end of 2020.

The Realistic Energy Plan task force proposal is slated for hearing on Thursday, February 21. KEC members interested in submitting comments on SB 181 should submit testimony to Tara Mays at and copy Carol Dorr at An electronic copy of testimony is due to KEC staff by noon on Wednesday, February 20. Members should feel free to join the audience for the testimony at the 1:30 pm hearing, which will be continued again that afternoon at 3:30 pm.
